TAMPA, Fla. (November 23, 2020) – HCP concluded a resident and worker study with Westshore Alliance and presented the findings on Nov. 17 in part three of a webinar series hosted by the Alliance. The panel was moderated by Robert Allen, Vice President with HCP.

Other panelists were Danni Jorgenson, Chief Transportation Planning Engineer at City of Tampa; Randy Coen, planner and transportation consultant of Coen and Company; and Dan Woodward, VP of the Tampa Market with Highwoods Properties. Allen shared the survey results that sought perceptions of those who either lived or worked in the Westshore District.

The results overwhelmingly spoke to both groups’ desire to walk and bike within the district, green spaces, and the ability to walk across the street to go to lunch or shop. However, the love for the district spoke volumes with 93% of residents recommending the district as a place to live, work, and play, and 96% of workers saying the same.

The panel also covered issues like how private developers can provide public- and semi-public spaces that both help the local area and increase activation of the area; how the city’s transportation plans, in tandem with the Westshore Alliance master plan, are working on things like the Westshore Boulevard Complete Streets Project; and how to connect Downtown to Westshore.
