Meet Bekele- the Kudu with a new name trotting around Tampa! In August, HCP concluded the “Name the Kudu” contest on behalf of KUDUCOM, a social media contest that brought the region together to give a new name to the brand’s mascot- the noble Kudu.
The contest ran on all the company’s social media platforms and yielded a total of over 18,000 impressions throughout the campaign, and an average engagement rate of over 5% on all platforms. After a month of collecting entries, senior staff selected 3 names as finalists, with the winner being decided through a Facebook Poll. Finalists were awarded prizes based on their ranking in the poll, with the winner receiving a grand prize VIP Package to Busch Gardens, and two Tampa Bay Lightning tickets courtesy of KUDUCOM. Other prizes included $50 gift certificates to Top Golf and Bouzy Hyde Park, a MOSI Membership, as well as a package provided by ZooTampa that included 4 free tickets for entry.
“It was rewarding to see people from all over come together and immerse themselves with the brand and what it represents. It reminded me of the true power of social media and how we can harness it to interact more closely with the community,” said the campaign’s manager, Grace Sailer, who acts as Marketing and Communications Coordinator with HCP.
