August 3, 2011 – Tampa Company Goes Country to Snatch Finalist Spot in American Airlines Video Contest

TAMPA, Fla. – (August 3, 2011) – American Airlines, in cooperation with SCORE, an organization that helps small businesses succeed through mentoring and training, named Tampa-based research and marketing firm HCP, as one of its 50 national finalists in their online video contest titled—Flights.Camera.Action.

Senior Strategist/Partner Eric Polins represented HCP. Polins is no amateur competing in video contests; last June he was voted one of three global finalists and flown to Cannes, France, by industry advertising giant OgilvyOne Worldwide for The World’s Greatest Salesperson contest.
For the current contest, Polins wrote, produced and starred in a 60-second country-style video delivering a tongue-in-cheek Johnny Cash ditty with a local meets international travel theme.

“I wanted to create a very likeable, yet strong country character, and spend the majority of the time focusing on the actual lyrics and background imagery to explain how a small research and marketing firm would benefit from free air travel for our employees. Although I know my singing is not my greatest asset, many viewers think the rest of the video makes up for that,” Polins said.

Online voting, which started August 1, will decide the top five videos entered by small and medium-sized businesses. In the videos, companies explain how free travel and extensive media exposure would impact the future of their business. The grand prize winner will be announced at the annual SCORE Awards Gala on September 15 in Washington, D.C.

In addition, voters will be eligible to enter a sweepstakes up to once per day for a chance to win 25,000 AAdvantage® miles – the equivalent of one round-trip domestic Plan AAhead® Award Economy Class ticket.

Voters are permitted to vote every day until the deadline of August 26, 2011. Polins and HCP are hoping for enough votes to take them to the next round.
