HCP Associates completes 9th Tampa’s Downtown Resident and Worker Study
TAMPA, FL. (April 23, 2025) – HCP Associates recently completed the 9th iteration of the Tampa’s Downtown Resident and Worker Study for the Tampa Downtown Partnership. Since 2008, the survey has been conducted every two years to track growth and changes in residential and worker perceptions, sentiments, and visions for the future.
The 2024 iteration of the study continued to ask neighborhood-specific questions to continue to track changes in perceptions across Tampa’s Downtown neighborhoods. Questions in the 2024 study also focused on residents’ utilization and perceptions about various amenities, programs, and transportation options.
One notable finding in the 2024 study focuses on residential and worker satisfaction with the availability of retail and shopping opportunities in Tampa’s Downtown. Only 20 percent of residents are satisfied, to some degree, with shopping opportunities in Tampa’s Downtown. In contrast, 37 percent of residents cited retail as the most insufficient characteristic in Downtown. Clothing and apparel stores were also one of the most desired retail opportunities amongst Tampa’s Downtown workers.
“This year’s results show that Downtown is at an inflection point. With strong growth in both population and business activity, there is now a clear and growing expectation for complementary services – particularly retail businesses – to complete its transformation into a self-sustaining urban lifestyle experience,” said Robert Allen, Vice President at HCP Associates.
