Challenge:

Thatch, an independently owned IT consulting firm headquartered in East Lansing, Michigan, has steadily evolved from a traditional computer support provider into a full-spectrum IT and cybersecurity solutions company. Their services now include 24/7 support, cloud infrastructure, VoIP systems, cybersecurity monitoring, and compliance consulting for regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR. Despite their robust service offerings and high customer satisfaction, the company faced a growing disconnect between its legacy identity and its future ambitions. Key challenges included: 

  • An outdated brand identity that no longer reflected its modern capabilities 
  • A company name that limited perception to legacy computer support 
  • Inconsistent messaging and visual branding across departments and platforms 
  • Lack of a centralized media engagement platform or formal PR process 
  • Low market visibility beyond mid-Michigan, despite growing nationwide client relationships

With Founder Kevin Thatcher stepping into a chairman role and CEO Scott Milnes retiring, longtime VP Luc Cole was named the new CEO in mid 2025. Amidst these changes, the company turned to HCP Associates for a complete marketing transformation.

Strategic Brand Planning
HCP conducted planning workshops with Thatch leadership to define brand values, tone, and long-term goals. These sessions embraced a new positioning platform centered on trust, responsiveness, and technical excellence. 

Name Refinement & Rebranding
We shortened the name from Thatch Computer Consulting to Thatch, signaling a clean break from legacy terminology and embracing a broader, tech-forward identity. A new visual system was developed, including logo, color palette, typography, and design themes—all captured in a detailed brand and style guide. 

Tagline & Messaging
A new tagline was introduced to reflect Thatch’s commitment to reliability and service:
Where Technology Meets Trust.™  This became the foundation for voice, tone, and content across platforms. 

Website Redesign & Launch
We designed and launched a fully responsive, modern website at www.thatchcc.com, positioning Thatch as a future-focused IT partner across healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. The site includes detailed service content, leadership bios, case studies, and lead-generation funnels in addition to a robust newsroom.  

Corporate Identity System
We created a cohesive brand system that included new business cards, letterhead, envelopes, email signatures, pitch decks, Word templates, and PowerPoint presentations—ensuring unified brand expression across internal and external touchpoints.
