TAMPA, Fla. (Nov. 9, 2018)— Yesterday at the 4th annual awards ceremony, the PRSA Tampa Bay Chapter recognized HCP Associates with three PRestige Awards for outstanding public relations tactics. Works recognized included: two long-form/short-form videos and one non-profit broadcast public service announcement (PSA). The event was hosted by Business Wire at the University Club of Tampa.

Two Awards of Excellence were won working with Port Tampa Bay’s Director of Public Relations, Samara Sodos on “Glory Delivers Hope” and “Port in a Storm.” HCP also received a PRestige Award Trophy for a top scoring PSA produced for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Association of Florida for their Vanity License Plate Program.

The first Port Tampa Bay video, titled “Glory Delivers Hope” earned an Award of Excellence in the “Videos/Long-Form Production” category. The video is about the Glory, an offshore workboat, that delivered much-needed donations to a hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico from Port Tampa Bay. The port does not have any regular shipping lines to Puerto Rico and is not geographically the closest Florida port to the island. Despite these circumstances, the Tampa Bay maritime industry and community at large rallied to send supplies.

A second Port Tampa Bay video titled “Port in a Storm” also earned an Award of Excellence in the “Videos/Long-Form Production” category.  This video featured video feed from Sodos riding out Hurricane Irma on a large icebreaker with Port President/CEO Paul Anderson and many other PTB staff members.

Eric Polins, Managing Partner at HCP Associates said, “The PRestige  Award for BBBS is very special to us at HCP because it’s a non-profit and we really wanted to help create awareness and improve vanity plate sales that directly benefit ‘Bigs and Littles’ in the BBBS program. Our work on the PTB stories is equally special as they really help humanize the services at the Port and helps people understand all that the Port does for the community and region.”

According to BBBS, after launching the PSA through social media and various other distribution channels for the past year, BBBS reported 4,685 active license plates as of August 1, 2018, which is up from 3,089 a year ago; this is an increase of 1,596 plates or 52%. The PSA had many different iterations with the most popular being a 60-second spot on BBBS social media. The PSA continues to be distributed on video and social channels and recently won a 2018 Videographer Award of Distinction.

The award was accepted by Port Tampa Bay’s Chief of Staff, Jamal Sowell and Eric Polins, Managing Partner at HCP Associates. For the past year, HCP has worked diligently as Port Tampa Bay’s strategic communications vendor.
